Summer Favorites 2020: The Eco Edition

My current obsessions from bathroom to kitchen stuff and beyond: plastic free, low/no waste, and eco-friendly.

FAVORITES.png

Yes: most of us are still emotionally processing March, but believe it or not, summer is here.

My husband and I have been working to really hard to reduce our plastic use and overall waste for sometime now, and so I wanted to create a post that was solely around some of my favorite eco-friendly products.

Now: this conversation exists on a spectrum, and if we were all being truly sustainable af, we would all make all of these things ourselves to stop buying anything that’s mass produced in a factory, shipped across the country (or overseas) to us, and so on. I see that, and also acknowledge that many of these are linked through Amazon, which is not exactly the ideal when it comes to sustainable brands.

That said, if you are:

  • looking for a place to start

  • want to cut back on your plastic use and/or your overall waste like we were

  • want some accessible swaps or improvements on the plastic and wasteful standards that most households have—

these are my favorites that I use and that I recommend.

(I had been planning to share this anyway, and just today found out that July is #plasticfreejuly ? Fitting.)

Let’s get into it!

KITCHEN + CLEANING

Compostable, non-plastic sponges

Yes: I did include this in my last Favorites round up, but these compostable, all-biodegradable sponges are back, and for good reason: I love them.

They are as sturdy and durable as the sponges you know and love, they don’t smell or do anything weird, AND the extra bonus is they are packaged and shipped 100% plastic free as well.

Tru Earth Laundry Detergent Strips

I was skeptical about these at first but they actually are awesome.

They come in cardboard packaging (no plastic) and you just drop a strip or two into your washer and they work great!

Sponge Cloths

When I realized I was going through way more paper towel than I wanted to be during the day, I was excited to find these compostable, reusable alternatives.

These are a hybrid between a sponge and a towel (think eco version of a ShamWow) that is great for counter wipe downs, spills, cleaning surfaces & more.

They’re reusable (just toss in your dishwasher or washing machine) for up to 50 washes (I think!), and you just toss in the compost at the end of their life.

Un-Paper Towels

Between the sponge cloths above and these, I rarely use paper towel for anything anymore, which has cut down on so much waste.

These are just simple cotton cloths that you can throw in the wash, that are SO much more absorbent than pretty tea towels and are great for keeping hands clean as you cook. I am obsessed with these things and highly recommend!

Branch Basics Household Cleaning

There’s lots of options out there when it comes to eo-friendly cleaning supplies, but this has been my personal go-to for a while. Branch Basics sent this set out to me to try I think TWO YEARS ago, and I am STILL using it. All the time.

The bottles are plastic (con), but they are reusable, refillable, and last so long, AND negate your need to purchase any other extra plastic cleaning products (pro), making this such an awesome option for anyone looking for an upgrade in their household cleaning regimen.

FOOD + DRINK

Metal Straws

Ages ago I started getting in the habit of drinking coffee with a straw, even when hot, hoping it would help with not staining my teeth as much.

I had been using compostable straws for a while but recently upgraded to these guys to cut down on waste and I love them.

They are packaged plastic-free, are dishwasher safe, come with little cleaner brushes, and are durable AF.

Wax Food Wraps

These are all natural, plastic free, reusable alternatives to plastic wrap.

While they don’t do everything (like a super tight seal you need to store an onion, for example), they are usable for just about everything else.

We have one set that has 3 sizes and find them effective, durable, and most importantly: have helped cut down our use of plastic wrap.

Silicone Stasher Bags

These silicone Stasher bags are the reusable and more sustainable alternative to ziplocks. They come in varying sizes, are dishwasher safe, can be used to cook (sous vide, anyone?), are non-toxic, and super versatile.

Grab them of cooking, storing, freezing, traveling, or anything at all!

Soda Stream

True story: I used to PLOW through La Croix.

I know I shared this is in my last Favorites here, but I’m sharing it again because it really has become one of my favorite kitchen gadgets.

This bad boy makes my sparkling water habit nearly waste-free.

BEAUTY + BATHROOM

Primally Pure Face Oil

This face oil from Primally Pure is one of my favorites. I will wear it as a treatment while I soak in the bath, in lieu of night cream, as a super hydrating moisturizer, and in all sorts of nourishing ways.

It comes in a glass bottle, is all natural, and generally just a great company too. They make lots of skincare products that are worth checking out! This is one of my faves.

Bamboo Toothbrushes

I recently read that every single piece of plastic ever made still exists, and that line has highlighted the amount of plastic we use and throw away, that’s sitting in a landfill somewhere.

A small but effective help to this endless mound of plastic is toothbrushes, so I was happy to give these ones a go. And so far? 10/10.

David’s Toothpaste

Another huge culprit in the pile of landfill plastic: toothpaste tubes.

Though I haven’t tried this brand yet, it’s on my list. (Currently I am using toothpaste tablets that come in a glass jar, from Bite). But if you’re not feeling that adventurous yet but want a plastic-free alternative, try this.

Shampoo Bar

Another place I’ve been dabbling with less-waste alternatives: shampoo & conditioner.

I have a bar shampoo & bar conditioner, and although I do not use them exclusively (yet), I am getting accustomed to them and would invite you to do the same.

Finding the right ones for your hair texture and needs can take a little trial and error, but this bar is highly rated on Amazon and might be a great place to start.

Plaine Products Body Lotion

The daily shit we use that comes in plastic bottles we toss into a landfill, episode 974357.

This company has a range of bathroom products that all come in metal containers that are refillable for free.

I’ve been using this body lotion and quite like it. And if you’re not ready for shampoo bars yet but want to ditch the plastic, check this brand for their options as well.

I have been using this floss and been loving it— not just because it comes in plastic-free packaging but because it gets the job done.

I will say that my husband isn’t in to this because this particular brand is a bit too think for his teeth, but I’d definitely invite you to give it a try or shop around for other natural plastic free floss!

That's it! There will definitely be more from me on this topic here again, but for now, that’s some of my eco-friendly low to no waste and plastic free alternatives that I’m currently loving.

What are you loving these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

And remember that you can always check out my all-time favorites (read: ride or die, go-to products) and recommendations from everything from skincare to cookbooks in my shop tab!

Spring Favorites 2020: What I'm Loving Right Now

My current obsessions from beauty to snacks and beyond.

SHE THRIVES SPRING 2020 FAVORITES

WELL.

It’s been a minute since we’ve done one of these style posts, eh? It’s not for lack of interest ok.

I’ve been a liiiiittle busy over here launching my new signature mentorship program, SHE THRIVES ACADEMY, and taking my first two waves of amazing women through the program.

But more on that later.

While the monthly favorites is a little tough for me to commit to right now, I think seasonal favorites might be a good compromise?

So. Without further ado, here are the things (from skincare to makeup to snacks, to books and beyond) that I’ve been loving lately!

HOUSE + HOME

Compostable, non-plastic sponges

We have been REALLY trying to cut down on our use of plastic in this house, and I recently found these plastic-free sponges and have been really impressed with their performance.

They are as sturdy and durable as the sponges you know and love, they don’t smell or do anything weird, AND the extra bonus is they are packaged and shipped 100% plastic free as well.

Friends Tea Towels

What’s not to like? Jam? Good. Beef? Good.

If you know, you know.

Yes you probably need these.

Crystal Prisms

I recently hung one of these in my kitchen window and have been living IN RAINBOWS ever since. These beauties refract the light in such a lovely way and it’s just a nice little touch to have some dancing colors around the house on sunny days.

This set is less than 10 bucks and comes with two crystals, a polishing cloth and line to hang them.

Rebounder

While I have been making my way back into the gym, I have been sticking to hypertrophy and staying away from heavy or high intensity cardio.

I decided this would be a fun thing to have at home that will allow me to get my lymphatic system moving without it being high impact, and I love having this around!

Especially if you work from home: this is a great way to break up your day and get your (creative) juices flowing, PLUS: how can you NOT smile while jumping on a trampoline?

P.S. I have been back on THE BIGNESS PROJECT program and its official: its still awesome.

CLOTHING

Free People Cami

True story: I have this top in almost every color and I wear them all the time. I have been asked regularly on Instagram where these are from, and so I wanted to include them here!

These do not have any bra liner or support and I don’t wear anything under them, but they are so comfy without compromising cute. (Just don’t put them in the dryer or those tiny little straps will die).

SKINCARE + MAKEUP

OLE HENRIKSEN Dark Spot Toner

To be honest I have really come to love this entire brand of skincare. This toner is one of my newer additions to my cabinet and I’ve been loving it.

It is designed to lighten up dark spots or discoloration, and has a subtle but noticeable zing on the skin.

I don’t use it every day, but I use it a couple times a week when I feel I could use a little extra pick-me-up.

OLE HENRIKSEN Goodnight Glow Retin-ALT Sleeping Creme

Did I mention I love this brand?

This night cream has a naturally derived alternative to retinol, so if you have sensitive skin or are choosing to avoid retinol for any reason, this might be a good alternative for you to try.

This is definitely one of my favorite night creams I’ve tried and the first tub I have lasted ages! Time to re-up!

Herbivore Prism Mask

If you’re looking for a great new mask, this is my newest addition and so far I have been loving it.

It gives your skin a quick hit of some glow-inducing acids and I mean the packaging makes it almost a decor item to your bathroom.

CHARLOTTE TILBURY Hollywood Flawless Filter

Fam, lemme tell you: I am QUITE the connoisseur of glow products of every origin and variety. I live for this shit.

And this product right here might be one of my all time favorites.

This stuff is sort of like a liquid highlight and a foundation combined, and I use it almost every day: I put a TINY dab on each cheekbone, blend it in, and then apply concealer under my eyes and a brow, and poof- I’m done. And I look like I just drank 5 gallons of water. SHE IS HYDRATED + GLOWY OK.

10/10 recommend this stuff, and even though it’s pricey, it comes in a HUGE bottle that is sure to last you a while.

P.S. Be sure to check out my all-time favorites and cabinet staples on this page here.

FOOD + DRINK

Soda Stream

Honestly the amount of La Croix I go through in a week (or… day) is something I will keep to myself, but suffice it to say, I realized that I REALLY did not want to be creating the amount of waste that I was by plowing through cans.

Enter: The soda stream. This guy is not only saving us $, but makes my sparkling water habit nearly waste-free.

BETTER BITES Chocolate Chip Do Bites

Ok so even though I have some issues with their branding (can we lose it with the moral connotations when it comes to food please tysm), these are seriously my newest obsessions.

I keep mine in the fridge because I like my chocolate crunchy.

They have other flavors/styles and they all get my stamp of approval!

Habanero Ranch Dressing

I put this shit on everything.

I mix it into salad dressing vinaigrettes, I dip pizza in it, I just think it’s the best.

I highly recommend!

(Also their Poppy Seed dressing is a delight)

French Flour

Full gluten flour that doesn’t fuck me up. This French flour has been such a fun thing to find and I have been loving getting to make my own breads and baked goods and eat the REAL DEAL goodness.

Note: experiment with this at your own risk. Contains hella gluten. Not for those with Celiac.

P.S. I get asked all the time so gonna leave this here: My go-to bread recipe

That's it! What are you loving these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

January 2018 Favorites: What I'm Obsessed With Right Now

The stuff I'm loving right now from the kitchen to the office to the gym and the skincare cabinet!

MONTHLY FAVORITES SHE THRIVES

Monthly favorites are back! And man alive do I have some things to share with you guys! If you've been wondering about what I've been loving these days, look no further: the run down is all right here for you.

ATTENTION, SEATTLE AREA FRIENDS!

If you live in the Seattle area and you are a CrossFitter, COME HANG WITH ME!

I'm hosting a totally free Open Prep Workshop with my friends at Lululemon, and I can't wait to share everything I know about getting your body + mind running in tip top shape to have the best + most fun Open ever.

KITCHEN

As someone who is VERY picky about how they like their coffee (canned/culinary coconut milk or heavy cream only-- none of this "substitute" garbage TYSM), I was completely surprised by how much I loved this non-dairy collagen-based creamer.

Not only is the taste (and texture!) on point, but it boasts 10g of protein to boot. If you're in the market for an unleveled coffee experience, one heavy on the micronutrients and light on the excuses, this is your product.

It also comes in handy-dandy single serve packets to bring to work, on vacay, etc., as well as other flavors.

Check out more of my favorite supplements in my Favorites Shop + Episode 8 of She Thrives Radio.

I found this on the shelf of my local Whole Foods and was really impressed by it!

These sauces are water based, Whole30 compliant, Paleo, gluten free, etc, meaning they meet pretty much any dietary requirements with clean ingredients and low macros.

I combined the Citrus Herb with Mega Med Spice Blend from Balanced Bites (obsessed with those blends) and made some bomb-ass shrimp + veggies.

If you're looking for an easy way to spice up your meal routine, this might be it!

ACCESSORIES

Ok so I have shared these glasses before, but wore them recently in my stories and you guys went BANANAS for them, so wanted to link them again for you here!

And there is one difference fro the last time I shared these: these here are the "mini" version of the glasses. The originals are oversized and look awesome on most faces, but for those of us with tiny heads (ahem!), they were overpowering-- so the brand released a smaller version.

The minis fit MY face size much better, so now I just own both sizes! Worth it, cuz look how cute.

BEAUTY & SKINCARE

I have been hearing about the wonders of this moisturizer for a while now, and when I was able to exchange some Sephora points for a "free" sample, I jumped at the opportunity. (Note: It's the sample size in the photo, not the full size!)

And now I see exactly what all the hype is about: it's amazing, and I don't even know how to explain it.

The cream transforms into a water feeling as you're applying it to your skin, and you can tell your skin just got a dose of nutrients dense moisture. It isn't greasy or heavy, but it's intensely moisturizing, and just makes you skin feel... HEALTHY. I am getting the full size ASAP and have become and instant die-hard fan.

HOME + OFFICE

I recently shared about this book on my Instagram feed, and caused QUITE a frenzy. I have heard from so many of you who immediately bought the book and are working your way through, and that makes me so happy!

This is not your average "self help" book. This is a deep dive into human psychology, behavior science, genetic and family traits, and a ruthless (but liberating) tearing into all of the stories, narratives, belief systems and experiences that you are operating your entire life under... That are probably keeping you stuck.

It'll make you cry, laugh, question everything, open you up to some real shit, and rebuild you as your truest, best self.

Read my longer review from Instagram.

I've gotten quite a few questions about both my podcasting microphone and headphones so wanted to share here for you!

This Blue microphone is affordable, high quality, and cute enough to live on my desk in eye sight 24/7.

I'd highly recommend this one to anyone looking for a great mic on a budget!

I use mine with a pop filter.

RIWBOX HEADPHONES

These headphones are cute, effective, foldable, and have a long cord so I'm not getting jerked around as I record or listen to music.

I will say that the ear "pockets" are on the smaller side, which works for me, as we already discussed my small head situation.

They are affordable ($26) and get the job done while I save my pennies for Beats!

That's it! What are you obsessed with these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

Wanna poke around some of my other favorites? I do this round up every month, so head here to see ALL THE THINGS!

She Thrives Gift Guide December 2017

Some of my favorite things, and almost all women-owned small businesses. Shop small and support these badass chicks!

she thrives holiday gift guide

In lieu of my monthly favorites post, I decided to create a little holiday guide for you of some gifts and products for those people that you're just stumped on. (Or, yourself-- no judging here!)

I also did my best to include mostly small businesses (women-owned if possible), because I know it's as important to you, the tribe, as it is to me to support the people out there hustling and making it happen.

Hope you enjoy my first gift guide!

CLOTHING + ACCESSORIES

SHIRTS ARE BACK! You requested these like crazy so here they are! The pre-order window for these tank tops closes on Saturday the 9th so don't wait!

Purchases of this shirt help support this here lil blog and are guaranteed to make you look and feel like a badass.

THANK YOU ALL for your amazing support!

If you're a CrossFitter, chances are good you've seen this bra swirling around on Instagram or even in your gym. It's designed to pad your collarbones from barbells, but you don't need to be a barbell user to appreciate how damn cute these bras are.

These come in a TON of colors and styles, and the owner, Nicole, also makes leggings and other fun stuff.

I have one and love it!

These days, people wear "busy" like a badge of honor. Thankfully, we have people like Steph who are working against that mainstream idea and encouraging people to take a step back, and unhustle.

This is a great gift for your wellness or health minded friend who always loves new athleisure!

BEAUTY + SKINCARE

This right here is the stuff that got me hooked on the oil cleansing method about 3 years ago. This small business' owner, Cassy, works hard to ensure only the highest quality ingredients goes into her products.

I love the cleansing oil, the face oil, and the myrrhaculous face cream.

Fatco makes lots of different lotions and potions, and would be a welcome gift to anyone on the hunt for some amazing natural skincare!

I had a hard time picking just one product from the Herbivore Botanicals lineup, because they are all so pretty.

This is a Seattle based company that's really expanded recently, and their products are all as clean as they are cute.

Such great stocking stuffers or gifts for office friends!

Who doesn't love when tech + beauty combine forces? This gadget is a soft brush that gently exfoliates your skin and really makes your cleanser next-level effective.

I'm a little late to this one (they've been around for a few years), but I'm impressed nonetheless.

Great for your bestie, mom, or anyone who appreciates a little self care and healthy skin.

P.S. Yes it works with oil cleansers! That's what I do every morning.

These masks are trendy af, and for good reason: they are effective. I love that these come in small sample sizes so that you can gift them (or try them yourself!) without breaking the bank.

Plus you can reuse the jar for travel. Who doesn't love the gift of clear, hydrated skin?

HOME + OFFICE

Ditch the Hallmark and add some style to your cards this year, all while supporting a great local Seattle artist, Abby.

Her work is all hand done, but it doesn't end with cards!

You can also gift your budding entrepreneur friend some logo design work, custom stationary, screen print work and more.

The COMMIT30 Planner

Raise your hand if you're obsessed with planners and all things organization!?

This planner is a stand out because it's entire purpose is to support you hitting your goals. With things like daily action steps, motivational quotes, vision mapping, and more, this is such an awesome asset to anyone who has a vision for 2018.

The owner, Jenny, also just released a fitness-only version of this planner for those Obligers out there who need a little extra help sticking to their plan!

We got this throw as a wedding gift a few years ago and it's been a living room staple ever since.

It's lightweight and adds a beautiful accent to the room, and we love it!

I also spied this cozy, velvety throw and already have my eye on it... this one might be on my list! Bonus: it comes in a zillion colors.

My husband and I got this as a gift last year, and we are completely and totally obsessed. If you ever wished you could text your dog, the technology is basically here.

The features for the Furbo are too long to list here but I highly recommend this to anyone who has a fur baby!

KITCHEN +  COOKING

For that person who's always in the kitchen and looking for ways to either make things more interesting, or who appreciates fast + easy meals, these spice blends from Diane Sanfilippo are seriously amazing.

Unique flavor combos, oversized jars, and totally clean ingredients make these stand out. A stocking stuffer with flavor!

And a bottle of beautiful olive oil is never a wrong gift, amirite?

We have an identical board that we use for cheese platters and every time we take it out, we get compliments.

A great gift for the hostess or cook in your life, and at under $30, a total steal!

Ok ok, are you sick of seeing this thing yet? I don't have one yet, but it is on my wishlist this year. The Instant Pot is all the rage right now, and for good reason.

Chicken in 12 minutes, rice in 4, and a slew of other bells and whistles that are guaranteed to make your life easier and tastier.

You probably know someone who would love this, and it's ok if the answer is you. ;)

GYM

Does your gym buddy always complain about needing knee sleeves but never actually gets them? Hook her up with a pair of Exo sleeves, which are my favorite brand of sleeves. These come in handy for all squat variations, but I also use mine as a fail-safe shin protector on rope climbs.

This company is owned by an awesome chick, Sloane, and sells way more than sleeves these days. Go check them out!

Workout Programs for you (and your training partner)

Wanna gift your training partner a workout program that you guys can do together?

It's the best of both worlds! A gift for you, a gift for me, and muscles all around. Here are a few programs (written by some badass women) you might want to check out:

PULL UP QUEEN by Neghar Fonooni

BIGNESS PROJECT by Kourtney Thomas

FAST PHYSIQUE by Jill Coleman

2018 better WATCH OUT!

Happy shopping, friends!

October Favorites: What I'm Loving Right Now

Makeup, blue light blocking glasses, skincare, recent reads + more!

SHE THRIVES MONTHLY FAVORITES

Happy November! Not gonna lie, November might be my favorite month of the year. Not only does it house my birthday (11/11), it also has my favorite holiday: Thanksgiving. And it's month number 11, which is obviously my lucky number. SO all around, I love me some November.

This little round up is some of the things I've been digging lately, and I hope you enjoy! What are YOU loving lately? Leave me a comment and let me know!

CLOTHING + ACCESSORIES

We now have shirts!!! Join the girl gang and grab yourself a new PR shirt before they're gone. Window for pre-order closes this week!

Purchases of this shirt help support this here lil blog and are guaranteed to make you look and feel like a badass.

THANK YOU ALL for your amazing support!

These glasses have been a life saver to me lately. Or more like an eye saver. The looonngg days of staring at a computer screen working have made my eyes not so happy, but these glasses block the blue lights edited by our devices and therefore help cut down strain. They also have a slight magnification, and I don't computer without them.

I have the Turing style in amber toffee.

BEAUTY + HEALTH

I have two products from this makeup collection in here this month because I am beyond obsessed with them. Two of my favorites makeup artists to follow released this collection with Dose of Colors, and this eye shadow palette is a serious standout.

These aren't your run of the mill, boring neutral shades, but instead wildly pigmented, super reflective, dynamic and interesting colors that are amazing any time of year. It's all I reach for when I am doing my makeup these days!

(I think I'm going to have a tutorial video coming soon using this...)

This is the other product from this line that  you probably (really) need asap. You know I am a connoisseur of highlights, and this one is GOOD, ladies.

It's not as "sparkly" as some, but allows for a crazy beautiful build up. The golden tones look natural and it just gives you a seriously beautiful glow. Do it!

If you follow me on Snapchat, you know that I have a tendency to take my anxiety out on my skin. I pick at it even though I shouldn't, and let me tell you, THIS little guy is the reason you probably never guessed my dirty little secret.

If I have a blemish, the remains of that spot may last quite a while, living as a dark spot of hyper pigmentation on my face for weeks or months. But this stuff helps it go away SO fast-- it's name is no joke. It brightens dark spots up in only a couple days or week(s) with regular use, and I cannot recommend it enough! It will ALWAYS be in my arsenal.

(I mentioned it in my recent SKINCARE post if you want more of my favorites!)

HOME

Another add to the #shethrivesbookclub!

This was a quick but great read about, you guessed it, obstacles. It dabbles a little in history and philosophy, but there were lots of Aha moments for me in this one, and thought it was impactful.

If you're struggling with some sort of block or perceived limitation, or just want a reminder that you can fucking do the damn thing, this is a great read.

That's it! What are you loving these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

September Favorites: What I'm Loving Right Now

MONTHLY FAVORITES SHE THRIVES

October is here and I can't even believe it, but as an introvert I'm always down for more cozy evenings snuggled with my pups watching Friends.. and October is the perfect time to do just that. I've rounded up some of the things I've been loving lately. What are YOU loving? Leave me a comment and let me know what I need to try!

GYM

When a great program comes along, I gotta share it (and also #supportstrongwomen). If you want to become a beast at pull ups, Pull Up Queen will get you there.

Three different levels of programming, videos, resources and lots more.

Pull ups here you come!

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

Whenever I wear these sunnies on Snapchat I get tons of questions about them!

These oversized aviators and come in tons of colors (of which I have a couple), but my favorites is the black fade color.

Perfect for autumn days and big chunky scarves and PSLs (if that's what you're into).

BEAUTY & HEALTH

With the weather getting a little dryer (and the heat starting to come on!), this is one of my very few haircare products that I use (and love).

I spray this all over my damp hair after showering, and then brush it through and air dry. It noticeably makes my hair softer, smoother, more manageable and shinier. It's super lightweight and also smells delicious.

I also spray this on my hair after blowdrying (which I rarely do) as it gives everything a healthy, shiny sheen.

You guys. This was recommended to me by my naturopath to help my severe menstrual cramping, and to be honest, when she prescribed this I didn't have a lot of faith in it's potential effectiveness.

Nothing has ever been more effective at making my cramps go from near-tears can't-leave-the-house I-feel-like-I'm-gonna-vom is-this-actually-normal-tho to, these cramps are sort of annoying.

Consult your physician if this is right for you, but this shit has changed my life. I take one every day and then up my dose during PMS.

FOOD & KITCHEN

If you follow me on the socials you KNOW how obsessed I am with this stuff!

I've already gotten a ton of messages from you guys saying you got it too and LOVE it. It's seriously so good. What do I put it on? Oh just EVERYTHING.

It appears to be a PNW brand, but you can also order online (and honestly the prices are better online anyway somehow?)

Just do it and thank me later, k.

Fall is here! If you don't have a slow cooker (or yours is tiny/old/broken/in need of an upgrade), may I suggest this beauty?

We got an All-Clad slow cooker a couple years ago and LOVE it. It was such an upgrade from what we were using, and I think the best part is the insert can go right onto the stove top for browning.

If you're looking for the easiest way to make healthy AF meals in large quantities, this is it, fam.

That's it! What are you loving these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

And remember that you can always check out my all-time favorites (read: ride or die, go-to products) and recommendations from everything from skincare to cookbooks in my shop tab!

How is it September already, someone please help me understand?! This summer flew by, partly because I was hard at work on my upcoming food and mindset course, THE NUTRITION LAB (more details coming REAL soon!), but also because, well, what summer doesn't seem to fly by? Here's the stuff that I've been really into lately, from the gym to the kitchen to home to office and more. Enjoy!

GYM

HANDS DOWN the best protein I've ever tasted. I've always been a fan of their products and used their protein for years, but after doing the Vanilla for a few months, I switched back to chocolate, and this stuff tastes like straight YooHoo. Just rich, chocolatey goodness.

It's only 3 ingredients, it's made by a rad company, and I truly can't get enough!

P.S. Use code SHETHRIVES for 10% off your order!

WHO EVEN AM I THO. If you told me two years ago that I would actually enjoy a spin class, I would have laughed right in your face. But here we are, folks. If you're local to Seattle, this place is worth popping in and checking out.

It's got a more personal and less intimidating vibe than some of the bigger box cycle studios,  is squeaky clean and ultra modern, and the staff is awesome. Oh yeah and you're guaranteed to get s great sweat sesh in to boot!

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

New shoes alert! I just got myself  pair of these new Nano 7 Weaves because I heard so much great stuff about them.

After wearing them and breaking them in for about a month, I can say that YES, I agree with the hype.

Super sturdy and flat (great for box jumps, deads, barbell work, etc, not so great for running), and comfy, which is really all I ever care about, let's be honest.

Bonus! Reebok is currently running a Labor Day sale! Use code SAVEMORE at checkout.

BEAUTY & SKINCARE

I was way slow on the uptake with this one. it seems like the whole world already has this, but I still wanted to share, because I do truly love it!

This little gadget gets your skin cleaner than clean, and the best part is that it properly preps your skin for absorption of those expensive lotions and potions that go on after cleansing-- it really lets them sink in and do their job.

I can definitely tell when I've gone a while without using this, so I try to use it once a day!

Sometimes concealers with good coverage end up being extra drying and making your delicate under eyes not so happy, but more moisturizing concealers either don't cover well or slip and slide all over your face.

This concealer is the best of both worlds: ultra silky and hydrating, but stays put and has great coverage.

Just bought myself a new tube today, actually! Love this stuff and highly recommend. (I wear the shade Fair)

FOOD & KITCHEN

Ok so I know I included this a couple months ago, but! Back then you could only buy these blends as a set, and you can NOW buy them individually. Yippee!

If you follow me on Snap or Instagram, you KNOW how much I use these blends. They are seriously awesome for making quick, simple meals taste like a million bucks.

My favorite flavors are Diner (for eggs), Mega Med (for chicken and tuna salad), and Greek (for salad dressings and other bright punchy flavor combos).

So I've developed a serious popcorn snacking habit, and it's delicious. I was eating Boom Chicka Pop brand for a while, until I realized that, hey, I'm eating an awful lot of this, and I don't like consuming that much seed oil or industrial oil, so maybe let's find an alternative?

This popcorn is made with avocado oil (yay!) and it's delicious to boot! (They also make a coconut oil version but I don't love that one). And just like that, my popcorn game just got a whole lot healthier.

That's it! What are you obsessed with these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

And remember that you can always check out my all-time favorites (read: ride or die, go-to products) and recommendations from everything from skincare to cookbooks in my shop tab!

July Favorites: What I'm Obsessed With Right Now

MONTHLY FAVORITES SHE THRIVES

Hey friends and happy August! Can you believe next month is September already?! *Cry face emoji* But! I have lots of exciting things coming your way in the next 2 months that I can't wait to share with you, so stay tuned for that (you're on my mailing list, right? Right?!). July was a crazy month; I worked a ton and traveled a lot, so most of these items reflect that- let's get right in!

NEW FEATURE ALERT! I am now making audio recordings of all my blog posts, so you guys can listen on the go, if that's more convenient for you. This specific post is not super conducive to audio (works better as a blog post with the links and images), but I made a recording for you anyway.

I will also be adding audio files to most (or all!) of my posts retroactively, and hopefully getting them up to iTunes at some point so you can consume all this goodness like a podcast. I'll keep you posted on that!

My latest post on Travel Tips & staying on track while on the go has an audio version available now, so if you haven't read that one yet, go read it or give it a listen!

GYM

I meannnnn do you SEE my gunz?! Most of you know that I've been doing a hypertrophy program called the Bigness Project for the last 15 weeks, and at the end of July I completed the program, and I haven't stopped flexing since. I really loved it. So much so that I think I am going to start it all over again from the beginning asap, and get extra big and then have to walk through doorways sideways and rip the arms on my leather jacket, which has always been a dream.

If you're curious or want to learn about more of what it is, I did a big write up of it here that you should check out!

Though I don't own this specific set, I think owning your own bands is a great idea, especially for traveling and at-home workouts; I brought my own seat with me on my recent road trip and was able to use them for quick, on-the-go style workouts. You can get very creative with these things and find a million ways to recreate your favorite weight/dumbbell exercises from pretty much anywhere. They're affordable, light, small, and pack a punch when used right. Definitely recommend owning a few!

CLOTHING & ACCESSORIES

I get asked about a camo hoodie I wear a lot on Snapchat, and though this isn't exactly the same one, I think it's reeeallly fucking close. (It might even be the same? I don't know!). I bought mine from the Miir HQ in Seattle, and can't find it anywhere on the internet for you! *Sad face* But again, this is close. Very very close. Maybe even the same. Hard to say. I got mine in a few sizes up (L) so it's extra cozy (recommended) and my snapfam knows I basically live in it.

BEAUTY & SKINCARE

This is a liquid highlighter (think dabbed on your cheekbones and above your brows, or on your shoulders and collarbone), and it's basically mercury: Liquid metal. And it sllaayyyys. (It's not really mercury. But it really slays). It creates the most intense glow EVER with just a fraction of a drop. I'm in love and completely and totally obsessed, and if you see me coming from a mile away, THIS is why. *flips hair*

These little pads are like an at-home, more mild version of a fancy person peel you'd get at the dermatologist's office. They leave your skin tingling and fresh, and even though they recommend you use them every day, I only use them about every other day or every two days, and I can still notice quite a difference in my skin. Smoother, brighter, more glowy, and dark spots lightened. I'm digging the and will definitely re-buy whenever I get to the bottom!

This is just about the most fun you can have with eyeshadow. ALL THE SPARKLES. It's sort of a cream (as you can tell by the applicator), but it dries as a shadow, it's SUPER glittery and I fuckin love it.

This plus the Iconic London Illuminator will pretty much turn you into a sunset glowy disco ball and I WANT ALL OF IT.

I'm thinking about doing tutorial with this soon... is that something you'd be into? Let a sister know!

FOOD & KITCHEN

So I actually gifted this to my husband last Christmas since we got into espresso on our honeymoon last May, but I have really started using it a ton as of late. My go-to drink is a "shot in the dark", or a cup of coffee with a shot of espresso, (hot or cold), and this has been making that happen for me every day at home. It doesn't take up a lot of counter space (of which we do not have a ton), is sleek looking and easy to clean. It also has a milk frother that can froth milk either hot OR cold, so it's basically a Starbucks in my kitchen, and the thing has more than paid for itself already, even though it's pretty affordable as these gadgets go. Highly recommend!

HOUSE & HOME

For when you want to walk around with a boombox on your shoulder but ain't nobody got time fo' that. This little speaker packs a punch: it gets loud, the battery lasts a long time (8 hours I think), it is waterproof and sort of has a rubbery (read: drop-proof) feel to it, and my husband and I have been toting it around everywhere lately: cooking dinner, working outside on the house, and we even used it in the car on our road trip when the car speakers randomly broke (yay!). Definitely a great little summer accessory, functioning car speakers or not.

Ok so this was in my June favorites, BUT! SO many people have continued to ask me about this over the last moth that I thought I'd include it again!

Listen: I could tell you about how it makes your phone easier to hold, how you can prop it up to watch videos and shows, or how it attaches to your car dashboard, but all you really need to know is it makes taking selfies 1000% easier and so yes you need dis.

This bendy lil guy is quite the upgrade from the propped-against-my-water-bottle filming standard I've had for years. If you film any of your lifts in the gym, vlog, or just like to record fun stuff at home, this is a great tool to have! It also comes with remote a (bluetooth) shutter that I haven't tried yet. But the whole kit and caboodle is under $15, so not so bad, right?

That's it! What are you obsessed with these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments!

June Favorites: What I'm Obsessed With Right Now

JUNE FAVORITES SHE THRIVES

Hey friends and happy July! At the request of my readers, I am starting a new monthly series on the blog where I share my current favorite things. Items range from skincare and makeup, to household and kitchen ware, to foods and snacks. So without further ado, let's get right into it!

GYM & CLOTHING

Lululemon Wunder Under High Rise

I get asked about these pants ALL THE TIME on the 'gram, and they are my favorite! These high rise Wunder Unders come in a few different fabrics and lengths, so be sure to try them all to find what works best for what you're looking for. But yea, these are amazeballs.

Forever 21 Swim

You guys, I'm not lion, F21 swim is pretty decent. I honestly can't stand the stores, but find myself going back time after time, and especially this time of year. I'm not down with companies charging $80+ each for bikini separates (WTF), and it can be so hard to find cute bathing suits that are on the cheaper side. I remember back in the day Target used to have the market cornered on this, but F21 has taken the lead, IMO. Really cute stuff, a price point I can get down with. Drawback: these suits really only last about 1, maybe 2 summers.

BEAUTY & MAKEUP

Living Proof Dry Shampoo

This is the BEST dry shampoo in the game. TRUST.

NYX Liquid Illuminator in Pure Gold

I shared this on my Instagram recently and for good reason- it's a great way to add a little summery, bronzey sun to your cheekbones. I'll dab a little bit o my cheekbones, temples, and bridge of my nose, either with my finger or a damp beauty blender. Extra bonus: It's affordable!

Laura Gellar Highlighter in Gilded Honey

I've been mostly into cream highlighters for my easy every day makeup lately, but when I'm looking for that highlight you can see from space, I'll dust this on on top of the creams. This is the perfect shade for summer and I love the formula.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Morocco

Such a fun, vibrant, summery red, that's affordable to boot! It looks so good with bronzy, tan skin, and is such a flattering shade of red (the orange undertones make your teeth look whiter). I'll be doing a makeup tutorial with this color soon so stay tuned for that!

FOOD & KITCHEN

Balanced Bites Spice Blends from Diane Sanfilippo

I have been using these wayyyy more than I thought I would (and I thought I'd be using them a lot). One of these blends seems to make it into almost everything I'm making these days, and with good reason. They are really unique and punchy flavor blends that add a great kick to any meal. My favorites are Diner (especially on eggs), Mega Med (I put it in tuna or chicken salad, among other things), and Smoky (just adds a great depth of flavor to pretty much anything).

HOUSE & HOME

Gretchen Rubin's Books

It's no secret I've been way obsessed with the author Gretchen Rubin lately. Her books are a wonderful study in self-knowledge, efficiency, time management, habit and goal setting, and general pursuit of a happier life. Highly recommend.

P.S. Search #shethrivesbookclub on the gram for more of my recommended reads.

PopSocket

I'm sure you've seen these things before but wondered what they are, and I recently got one and I'm pretty obsessed. It's a little thing you stick to the back of your phone that sits pretty flat, until you pull it out (like shown in the photo), and it basically acts as a handle for your phone. It makes taking photos (selfies in particular, no shame here) way easier, and it also props up your phone horizontally on any surface, which is great for watching videos. A cheap add on accessory allows you to clip your phone to your dashboard for easy hands-free map viewing, and they come in a zillion colors. Worth it.

Safari Dual-Sided, Stainless Steel Shedding Blade

As you may know (especially if you follow me on Snapchat), we have two English Setter dogs, and they are the loves of our lives, but HOLY SHIT do they shed! I am constantly lint rolling all my clothes, brushing hair off our couches and furniture, sweeping the house, and still I can't stay on top of their ridiculous shedding. Enter: this thingy. I guess these types of brushes are actually designed for horses, but man alive do they work to de-shed and get rid of excess doggie hairs. Also, both our dogs generally hide when they see their regular brush coming their way, but they actually seem to enjoy this one, so win/win. (Pro tip: Use this outside!)

That's it! What are you obsessed with these days? Anything out there I need to try? Let me know in the comments! And hey, HAPPY JULY!
